Video Game Character!Len x Geek!Reader: You're the Hero We've Been Looking For!
Chapter 1

~

"Game Over." The TV screen flashed these very words at you mockingly. This was the fourth time you had been defeated by the boss, and you knew immediately that your party of characters that existed in your brother's old RPG game weren't strong enough to kill the antagonist: the king who kidnapped the blue princess.

Sighing, you selected the 'revive party' option. A little bit more adventuring would go a long way for your little pixelated characters. You had played many RPG games over the course of your life, but this one was easily the most difficult one yet.

Your screen switched to the friendly kingdom's main castle, which surprised you a lot. You had expected your blonde male character to spawn outside of the little medical stall in the kingdom's marketplace.

The queen traveled down the screen to meet your playable character, and initiated dialogue you weren't familiar with.

"I've decided to give thee another chance!" you read. I thought I had infinite chances.

"Your majesty," you read, your playable character hinting at some bad news. Frankly, you didn't blame him.

"What is it?" the queen asked.

"Th-this is impossible."

"UGH," you groaned, "I know!"

A thought bubble filled with dots appeared above the queen's head, and her little pixelated body turned as if to look at you. You blinked, a little surprised.

"Well, if thee and my finest men aren't enough," the queen mused on-screen, "then we'll just have to get the player involved."

You dropped the controller. Surely this wasn't real. Maybe your brother had modded this game. No, your brother didn't even know how to mod a PC game, let alone a NES game you found tucked away in his sorry excuse for a closet.

"She's not going to believe this, your character said, also facing you. "I know you can't see it, your majesty, since you aren't the playable one, but this girl is in disbelief."

You were gaping at your game screen. This game must be modified, you thought.

"Okay," the queen said. "We'll just have to let her choose if she wants to fight at thy's side."

A new dialogue box opened on your screen, with a new question and a couple of options.

"Enter the game world?" it read. The 'yes' and 'no' options appeared below it.

"Okay," you said, "this is just a little too weird. But, it is just a game..."

You picked up your controller and selected the 'yes' option. The screen flashed back to your character and the queen.

"I didn't think she'd say yes," your character said.

"Thy are a mage, right? Get her right here in front of me this instant!" the queen seemed to cry.

The dialogue exited, and a cutscene started. Your character cast a swirling purple hole, and it erupted out of your TV screen and began to suck you in. You instantly got pulled into the abyss, blacking out as you traveled to a new universe.

****Time Skip****

"...looks like she made it here in one piece."

"One of thy's spells worked for once!"

"Your majesty, I beg your pardon?"

Your (e/c) eyes fluttered open, and you were staring up at an ornately decorated ceiling. It was covered in white doves and angels, and befuddled with detailed white clouds. You had never seen such beautiful paintings before, and you smiled at the thought of the dedication it must had required to complete it.

"Oh, she's awake!"

"That's her? She's scrawnier than I imagined her to be!"

A face entered your field of vision. Large, blue-green eyes gazed at you, and the young, boy-ish face that held the beautiful orbs in place was framed by a mess of frizzy yellow bangs, partially held back with a clip. Each lock seemed to have it's own place on the owner's head, and stuck up everywhere in a rather visually appealing way.

"Can you hear me?" the person asked gently, their voice hinting at the person being somewhere near your age. You nodded.

A second face popped into your view, and you were startled at the close resemblance between the two of them. The new face had a slightly more feminine look to it, and her hair (you assumed it was a girl) was neater and tucked behind her ears. A moderately large crown sat on her head, the same golden-yellow color making it seem to blend into her hair.

"Why doesn't thou sit up already?" she asked, her voice much higher and filled with arrogance.

Scowling at her, you sat up. A quick glance at your surroundings told you that you were in a large throne room.

"Who died and put you in charge?" you asked sourly.

"My parents," the girl snapped. "I thought thou were paying attention to the story, half-wit!"

Earlier memories came flying back to you, and your eyes widened.

No, there's no way I'm in the game!

You bolted to your feet, beginning to hyperventilate. A gentle hand grabbed your shoulder, steadying you. You turned to look at the person who had shown a hint of actual concern for your life, and you realized something.

This was your playable character.
